Walk on water

The Lord has brought me through many trials and, although trials are on-going, I believe absolutely that the Word of God has the power to bring into existence that which does not exist.
The thing that is required to do this is 'faith', whether it be another person's or my own, and I truly believe that the more I put my faith in that Word spoken to me and persevere in my trials, the more my faith is growing.

Not long ago my friend and I were out in the streets with our leaflets and a lady and her granddaughter started talking to us.  The granddaughter was eleven years of age and her name was 'Faith'.   She started to talk about how she would love to go to Australia as she knew much about tropical fish, and went on to tell us about many things that she had learned and achieved, including a degree in karate.
As they walked away I thought about how that young girl, Faith, had achieved much in such a short time, and a sentence came straight into my mind:- 'Faith can achieve much.'

One thing stood out that I felt the Lord was speaking spiritually to me about.  I read long ago that one of the things that those learning karate do is to close their eyes and concentrate on a light bulb in order to get every other thought out of their mind. This is where the power to even break a brick with their hand comes from. This reminds me of concentrating on Jesus, the true light of the world, and not on other things that would distract me from receiving the power that is in Him

Not long after that incident happened I received a new phone for my birthday.  It was a smart phone which I have never had, and did not know how to use.  My daughter in law set it up for me while she was staying with us for a few days, and put a picture of a sea on the screen just before they left for home.

As soon as I saw the picture I was reminded of something that had happened years ago when the Lord was encouraging me to trust in Him in times of turmoil.  I had been alone in bed one morning after my husband had gone to work and suddenly the duvet on the bed turned into a sea.  It was as if I was floating on that sea, on my back.  The vision lasted for about thirty seconds.  When I went downstairs there was a Kenneth Copeland magazine that had been put through the letterbox with a picture of exactly the same looking sea and the words 'Walk on water' on the front.  I knew then that the Lord was telling me to keep my eyes upon Him and not to look at the circumstances in my life, just as He had told Peter in Matthew ch. 14 vs.22 - 33:-

Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea.   And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.  But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.” and Peter answered Him and said, “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water.”
So He said, “Come.” And when Peter had come down out of the boat, he walked on the water to go to Jesus.  But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,  he was afraid; and beginning to sink he cried out, saying, “Lord, save me!” and immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”  And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.
Then those who were in the boat came and worshiped Him, saying, “Truly You are the Son of God.”

I knew that once again He was saying this to me, to trust absolutely upon Him and what He was speaking to me, and not to look at the circumstances in my life at this moment in time.
I wanted the words 'Walk on water' put on my new phone screen picture but did not know how to do it .  I asked two people to help me, but they did not know how to do this either.

The following Sunday I went to the church gathering I had been attending for a few weeks and the man who was speaking said that the theme that he was going to speak on was 'Walk on water.'  I could not believe it! - yet, after all the things that have been happening in my life, and how the Lord is encouraging me more and more to trust in Him, it did not really surprise me that this was being spoken to me.  I shared my testimony with the people there, and I hope that it will encourage them to trust in the Lord to be able to do what is not possible for man to do, as many of them are sick.
I then phoned my son to ask if he could tell me how to put the words 'Walk on water' on my phone screen. He suggested that I put  these words on one of my own pictures of a sea that I had taken and email it to myself so that I could use it on my phone.  I managed to do that.

I know that, just as Peter had to keep his eyes on the Lord, I too have to keep my eyes on the Lord, and act on the Word He speaks to me, in order to receive the promise of God regarding healing - which is 'YES' in Jesus.

One other thing that stood out to me was:- Even though many people in the churches have said to me that I should not  be going around to different churches all the time, I know that if I had not followed the Lord's instruction regarding this I would not have been in the right place at the right time to hear what the Lord has been saying to me.   As the scripture says:-'God does not live in a house made with human hands.'
I say these words of thanks to my wonderful Lord for the Words of encouragement found in Him as my One and only mediator between me and God.

Thank You Lord for bringing me through
these trials so heavy - for without You
great patience and tolerance I could not have learned
and lack of forgiveness would surely have burned
For the verbal abuse might have caused me to hate
being told by the enemy 'Retaliate'
But in all circumstances You have been with me
as I  walk upon my 'troubled sea'
being shown I must keep my eyes upon You
in order for that Word to prove itself true

Hello,
What does 'smoke on the water mean?'

Amen.

Very encouraging!

Hi Sandi,
thank you for visiting, and your kind comment.

Hi Brenda! Your faith and visions are always so inspirational. Look at how much confirmation you got regarding the water image too! God is so good.
I loved your remembering that 'Faith accomplishes much'. You sure saw that in human terms with that little girl. And then you went on to show us how your faith led you to see what God wanted you to see, and then to share your experience in your group, and on your blog.
You are definitely an evangelizer!
Blessings,
Ceil

Hi Ceil,
thank you for your kind comment, although it is the Lord Who is the inspiration in our lives - all glory to Him and our lovely Father God.
I love the way we are all able to share our experiences with the Lord on line, for we all have trials in our walk with Him and perseverance makes us stronger and builds our faith as His Word proves itself true.
I love sharing the gospel as I am sure we all do.
I hope your health is improving Ceil, we shall trust in the Lord with all our heart.
God bless you Ceil with His healing power.

Hi Sateigdra,
I love the way that God is omnipresent in Jesus, and how it can prove that He is the power and not man. I believe this is what increases our faith. Hope you are well.
God bless you Sateigdra.

Dear Brenda,
I love this encouraging post! What a wonderful reminder to have faith! When our former pastor was terminally ill, the motto our church adapted was "We Choose Faith" -- my husband wears it on a bracelet to this day. Around that time, the numbers 111 kept appearing in my life, until I realized that God was directing me to Hebrews 11:1, and the remainder of that "faith" chapter.
God bless you and your encouraging ministry.

Aw Laurie,
isn't that wonderful how the Lord brought Hebrews ch. 11 v. 1 into your mind. I really love the way He gives us signs to go with scripture. We can always tell when the signs are coming from the Lord - they are always scripturally based to encourage us to believe in the Word of God, and not as the spiritual enemy would try to encourage us to do - as in tempting God.
God bless you Laurie.

Amen, Brenda! I believe He speaks to us often in so many ways -- may we always listen for His still, small voice and follow His lead!
God bless you too!

That is right Laurie,
His still, small voice is the most important voice to us.
God bless.

Hi Brenda, As I read your post, I'm reminded that it's one thing to read the Word of God, it's another thing to have faith in it and gain true understanding. Putting your faith, in it, leads to one thing that I feel far too many Christians are lacking, a close and intimate relationship with the true God of our Salvation. Having faith and staying centered, in the Word of God, allows you to walk with God, instead of walking in this world alone.

Hi Keith,
that is one of the main things that I have truly experienced in knowing God through His Son Jesus - not being alone. Even though I do not see Him with my eyes I feel closer to Him than to mankind in this world. There are two things that stand out to me as I endeavour to put my faith in the Lord as He reveals the Father's ways to me. One is that fear diminishes, the other is that perseverance in trials proves the Word of God true.

I agree. I wished that everyone had that 'completeness', that only comes with walking with God and relying on his Word.

I do not seek fame, but if there were one thing, that I would like to be remembered by, it would be that I walked with God, my entire life.

I do think we all mature spiritually as we seek God through Jesus more Keith, and I have to admit that coming to know the Lord has also changed my perception of things regarding mankind (including myself). I know now that it is a spiritual warfare, and the enemy is not the flesh, it is Satan, and I know myself that sometimes that enemy can be very strong and can also be very cunning in disguising himself as what appears to be God's voice sometimes. It is only as we learn more about God's ways through Jesus that we become more aware of the ways of the enemy.

I agree Satan, our true enemy, is not flesh. However, with the exception of direct temptation, he needs us fleshy people,to carry out his physical actions. I hope that I'm wrong, but it appears that the remnant, in this generation, is a smaller percentage of the whole, than it has been, in the past. As for his strength, he is, indeed, a powerful Angel and force, to be reckoned with, which brings us back to your post. Our strength comes from God, through knowing and relying on the truth of his Word. I am reminded, that everytime Y'shua combatted Satan, it was with the Word of God. That's our model.

Amen Keith.

Christ has so many glories to occupy us with! But it's so easy to be occupied with present problems. We can be thankful that the Holy Spirit occupies us with Christ.

Brenda said...

that is right David,
that is why it is important to take every thought captive and bring it into obedience to Christ. His thought are for our welfare and not to harm us.

Enjoying the comments by Keith, and also your responses to them, Brenda. Throughout Biblical history God has always used a faithful remnant to accomplish His plan, for many who profess to be Christians have no true relationship with Him. May we be like Enoch, and please God by walking with Him by faith, not by sight. Merry Christmas and God bless.

Amen to what you have said Laurie. If I walked by sight I would be listening to my carnal mind also, and what it whispers, instead of the Lord. Yes, I enjoy interacting with Keith too, as I do with all of you. His blog is Perceptions from beyond time and space - to the right on my side bar.
You too have a lovely Christmas with your family. God bless you.

Hi Brenda,
Praise God that He uses the Internet to bring together fellow believers from all over the globe! May we learn from and encourage one another, as your blog does so beautifully. Best wishes to you for all of God's blessings in 2017 and until He returns!

Hi Laurie,
I am not very experienced at blogging, just the basics. I am hoping to take a computer course soon - God willing as there are many things I am not able to do. I feel as if my blogging sisters and brothers in Christ are my church on line. It is scriptural to build one another up in the Word and I have a lot of encouragement from your blog and many other blogs. We are all part of One body eh?
God bless you too Laurie with all that He has for us in Jesus.

Where would we be without Him? Thank you for sharing these encouraging words. It reminds me of something that's been rolling about my head, "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith."

Thanks also for stopping by my blog for Ceil's interview. It's great to meet you! :)

Brenda said...

Hi Karen,
it is nice to meet you too. Absolutely 'where would we be without Him?' We would be where our spiritual enemy would want us to be - in unbelief. Jesus is the Word of God that was made flesh, and God is not a man that He should lie. I would rather believe Him than the one who was a liar from the beginning.

Laurie Collett said...

Hi Brenda,
Praise God that all believers are part of His body, and His bride, the church. I think it is important to serve Him in a local church, but like you, I am blessed to interact with believers all over the world through our blogs and the Internet. God has clearly called you to this ministry, and He will provide all you need to accomplish His will. God bless you too!

Hi Laurie,
Strange how you have said that God will provide all I need to accomplish His will. I have just managed to put a link on my latest post for the first time.(actually a young lady in the local library did it for me, even though she said she was not sure if it would link to my blog as it was new territory to her). When the link is touched my testimony comes up. It shows '3 hours', but what it is - my testimony is only 28 mins 28 seconds, but the site appears to link similar discs put up by other people.
Forever learning!
God bless Laurit
